TaylorMade is introducing a new set of R9 irons with a clean and conventional shape that the Basingstoke-based company says will appeal to 'technician' golfers. The TaylorMade R9 Irons provide improved technologies for enhanced distance, control and feel, combined with clean, simple lines that appeal to more traditional tastes.

 

The TaylorMade R9 irons use a dual head design to give the best of both worlds - performance and control! The 4-6 irons use TaylorMade's Velocity-Control Chamber (VCC), where the cavity behind the ultra-thin clubface is filled with a near weightless foam and then finished off with a silicone shock absorber.

Like the R7, the clubface of the R9 Irons uses the inverted cone technology on the inner side of the clubface for consistent ball speed on off-center hits. Using that as their foundation, the new R9 Irons long and mid irons were designed separately from the short irons to optimize performance in each club.

• The face thickness of the R9 irons is very thin in the long irons for extra distance and then gradually gets thicker towards the short irons, for extra feel and control.

• Originally developed for TaylorMade drivers, Inverted Cone Technology is milled directly into the back side of the clubface. This dramatically expands the sweetspot for consistently longer distance on off-centre strikes.

• The multifunctional sole is versatile and made to excel in any lie for a crisp contact.

• All the technology in the TaylorMade R9 irons has been well hidden and they still retain their super classical looks with minimal offset.

• Choice of two shafts: steel NS PRO or Graphite Motore Fujikura

• 4-9PAS means 4 iron to 9 iron with pitching wedge, approach wedge and sand wedge
